Frequently Asked Questions

General Questions

We noticed how expensive leadership development can be, so we established our pricing structure and platform development specifically with smaller-budget schools in mind. We are motivated to make leadership development accessible and more affordable to the most people possible because we believe it has an important impact in competition, off the field, and after graduation. If you think your budget can’t accommodate something like this, contact us to start a conversation.

Definitely, any of our leadership development surveys could be a great way to build up your leadership curriculum. See our pricing page for a more detailed breakdown of how we price Leadership Cohorts (like SAAC) surveys.

This is a great question, and one we’ve worked to tailor our survey experience towards. For example, if you don’t have any leadership programming in place yet, our leadership development tools can help give you a foundational starting point to build from, and further programming could be built on top of the feedback your SAs get from the surveys.

One way this could play out is perhaps you spend two or three sessions debriefing the reports and then the following sessions could be used to build on leadership strengths you see or weaknesses you’d like to work on with your SAs.

Alternatively, you could spend a session debriefing each feedback variable in the DAL360 (there are ten in our report).

Either way, you can check out our free coach’s debrief guidance for the DAL360 for more ideas on how to use our DAL360 on your own, ranging from fire-and-forget (only 15 minutes of your time to run the whole thing for your team) to highly customized to your specific vision of the ideal team leadership ethos.

We are also available to help you sort out the structure of a new program, if you think you might need it. Contact us today to explore this option if you think it might be for you.

And if you already have a program–or if your school already runs a leadership cohort–the surveys we offer can be a great way to max out the use of those 10 leadership sessions.

Many coaches we’ve spoken to have noted they have only been able to use a handful of those sessions each offseason, and our surveys can be fit into whatever allotment you have left. They can be adapted to fit into one session or ten; how deeply you dive into it or how much time you are able to commit is very flexible.

Yes! We love to work with community colleges, and have found even doing our assessments once can have an impact on a team.

We believe that two-year programs could benefit especially from offering the DAL360 because of their focus on rapid student-athlete development with an eye towards their future academic and professional careers.

Don’t forget that the cost of any our surveys includes running them an unlimited number of times. So even if you have teams that tend to only have athletes for one year, you could run the DAL360 or the Team Network Analysis twice a year.

Absolutely. You can sign up for our surveys from our pricing page, but we also suggest you reach out to us to discuss how we can customize your curriculum to your specific needs.

Absolutely. We believe that sports are a formative learning experience and the sooner you can incorporate useful feedback into your student-athlete development, the better off they will be.

We cap the price for teams with greater than 50 athletes on their roster to prevent unreasonably high prices. See our pricing page for a more detailed breakdown, and reach out to us if your team size makes our surveys prohibitively expensive.

Definitely. Check out our Individual Leadership Development Coaching section for more information on how to commission your DAL360 and Personality Report on your own. (The Team Network Analysis is not available on an individual commission basis.)

Yes. Check out our other services page where we channel our expertise in things like data analysis and survey design and curriculum development to help you get the valuable insights you need.

We are also available to work with any program on a customized workshop or leadership development session, either in person or via Zoom. Reach out to us to learn more about that.

We have gotten enough demand for this that we have established a sister company, Developing Leaders, to specialize in offering our leadership development tools for undergraduates, graduate students, and non-profit / government organizations. Check them out at:

DAL360 Questions

You can sign up right now, and our pricing page has a more detailed breakdown of what we charge for the DAL360.

The factors we collect for the DAL360 are listed here.

Feel free to contact us with questions or partnership requests as well.

Our DAL360 is a fantastic tool to add to current programs, especially if you don’t already have a feedback mechanism in place. Tons of research shows that getting good feedback on the right variables can really jumpstart leader growth. Nearly as important is the skill of giving feedback effectively, an often-overlooked leadership behavior.

Additionally, many athletics department leadership programs only have the bandwidth to work with a small fraction of their student-athletes (SAs). The DAL360 can be easily, efficiently, and affordably given to all your SAs. Having four years of leadership feedback can be really valuable to the individual SA’s development, but coaches have also reported that is useful to them as well. For instance, having leadership data on their SAs from all the years they’ve been on the team (and not just during the time they are captains) can provide important information when it comes to seeing who might be the next captain or how their intended captains are progressing as leaders.

We do offer a captains-only version, but we encourage you to consider offering the 360 report to all your athletes, not just your captains, because we think you’ll see the biggest difference when everyone gets a personalized report. This also allows you to track your first-years’ progress and not wait until that last year to begin leadership development. We have priced our product to reflect our belief that the most benefit can come from including your entire team.

Having regular (e.g., pre- and/or post-season, or in-season annually) 360s can grow a feedback-centric culture, beyond the formal survey. Having a good feedback culture on your team can improve overall communication and foster continuous learning and growth for your leaders, while increasing overall team trust and accountability among team members.

Don’t forget that the cost of any our surveys includes running them an unlimited number of times. So there is no charge any time you want to run the DAL360 again for your team within one year of purchase.

We cap the price for teams with greater than 50 athletes on their roster to prevent unreasonably high prices. See our pricing page for a more detailed breakdown, and reach out to us if your team size makes the DAL360 prohibitively expensive.

    1. The coach sends us a roster
    2. We send out custom survey links to the athletes
    3. The athletes take ~15 minutes to complete the survey
    4. We aggregate the data and create custom reports for selected athletes
    5. We can send out the reports directly to the athletes, or send them only to the coach, who would then distribute after reviewing
    6. We provide an easy roadmap that allows coaches to maximize leader development for each athlete
    7. We are your continued partner in implementing your plan, here to offer feedback, resources, and other guidance that may be needed

*Please note that all survey responses are confidential, and results will be displayed in aggregate to identify themes; no individual responses will be shared unless anonymized first. In addition, no traceable student-athlete data or personally-identifying information of any participant will be shared and we will not share any data with any 3rd parties.

The overall time can vary widely, but a good estimate is about 15 minutes for the survey portion and another 30 minutes for the individual athlete reflection.

The process is divided into two parts: the survey where the athlete rates themself, the captains, & other teammates, and the second part involves reflecting on the findings in each report. The first part will depend on your team’s size and whether you have opted into the open feedback feature, but it shouldn’t take more than 20 minutes to complete.

The second part can vary a lot depending on the amount of time the coach wants to spend on individualized debriefing, as well as how much encouragement the athlete receives to really spend time with the worksheets in the report. At a minimum, we believe coaches should ask their athletes to spend at least 30 minutes with their report, going through the worksheets on their own.

However, you will find the best results if you or your staff manage to sit with each athlete and go over the data. Depending on your team size, the time commitment for the coaching staff could be pretty high, though on a per-SA basis, it might only add another 30 minutes to the athlete’s schedule.

We provide coaches with a workbook that can be useful in deciding how to structure debrief sessions, but we acknowledge this can be time-consuming. If you are interested in having one of us come to your school or videoconference in to help with the debriefs, this is a service we offer.

For the leadership factors where athletes are rated just using numbers, each athlete will see their own self-rating score and the average score of all the others’ ratings.

Our report does include free-response feedback, unless you opt out. If you don’t opt out of the qualitative feedback feature (for instance, an open-ended “do you have any feedback for this person about their leadership style?”), we do not distribute that directly to the athlete right away.

Instead, we aggregate those qualitative answers and put them in a report for the coaches’ eyes only. If the coach approves, we can disseminate that feedback to the athletes, but we won’t do that until the coach has reviewed the feedback themself first. That is, it would not appear in the personalized report for the athlete, and it would be the coaches’ discretion for how to handle distributing the feedback.

Check out our example open-ended feedback report  in addition to the numerical data shown on page 14 of this sample report.

We have that capability. For instance, some programs want their athletes to embody values like courage or compassion for their teammates — we can add a custom question to our DAL360 to measure your team’s values too. Contact us for pricing and how it works.
